London – Day 4
Since good weather was forecast again, we went to Battersea for a second time. It was really worth it. When you walk around there, you inevitably bump into one of the security guards at some point. When I had set up my tripod, one of them approached me straight away and said that professional […]
London – Day 3
In terms of light and weather, the best day of our stay. However, it was very windy. In the morning, I went to my former employer Unilever in Blackfriars. From St. Paul’s, we continued on to the government district. After a good meal at the Sherlock Holmes Pub, we walked back to […]
London – Day 2
At first it was still sunny, but that was to change in the course of the morning. We arrived in Battersea under cloudy skies. This is where the old power station featured on Pink Floyd’s Animals album is located. The area has since been transformed into an upmarket residential neighbourhood, and the power station […]
London – Day 1
After travelling by train, plane and underground, we arrived at the hotel at around 5 p.m. It wasn’t the best place, but it was adequate and quite cheap by London standards. The hotel also has another special feature. On the ground floor is the Oodles snack bar. In 1888, this was the site of […]
Total lunar eclipse
I almost didn’t set off as the sky was closing in. Fortunately, I did set off after all. As in 2018, the moon only became visible late, but towards the end of totality it was still clearly visible. Until around 8:30 pm, the brightness was not sufficient to penetrate the veil near the horizon.
Northern lights over the tidal Elbe
Last night, a remnant of the last substorm in Cuxhaven was still visible. I drove to Döse at around 10:30 pm without too much hope of seeing many auroras. However, a little northern light did become photographically visible.
Bremerhaven instead of Hannover
We were supposed to go to Hanover, but the train company threw a spanner in the works. There were virtually no trains running between Bremerhaven and Bremen due to an accident. So we decided to go to the Havenwelten. A test with the Kipon Shift Adapter for the Fuji-X was still pending. Here is […]
M31 – Andromeda
The nights are starting to get longer again… To kick off the season, here is M31, which was also my first object that I photographed in the night sky 7 years ago. Shooting data
Sail-In for the BremerhavenSail 2025
There was a lot going on on the dike in Imsum today… However, the conditions were very, very bad. With the 500 at long range, there was so much air movement in the pictures that it was horrifying. The panorama with the Nikon D800 and the Nikkor 300PF is still halfway usable.
