Not as cold as yesterday and seems like the wind is getting less. First point to visit is Rauðisandur where a golden to red beach with 10 km length is located. When we arrive, the first surprise I notice is the Snæfellsjökull view from here. Clear at the top without clouds. Trying with the Tamron tele lens on […]

Day 4: Welcome to the Westfjords
Today we’re going from Snorrastaðir to Látrabjarg. The route is planned via Klofingur and Rkhólaeyr at the southern coast line of the Westfjords. To Klofingur we are taking the gravel road 590. Close to the stopover there’s a sign to a church (in the middle of nowhere); something which wakes up curiosity. The F-road leading there […]
Day-3: Snæfellsnes Tour
Early up and the sun is shining! Fantastic! Now we only need this for the tour to Snæfellsnes. Long story short… yes, it is fantastic weather at nearly all places on the peninsula. On to Hellnar seeing the wonderful cave of lava in the water, the Baðstofa. After a short walk we are driving back […]
Day-2: Glanni, Hraunfossar and Langaholt
Bad weather in the morning and when looking at the Iceland weather forecast page, it doesn’t seem to get better. We’ll skip Snæfellsnes for today and try tomorrow with the hope of some better weather. Instead we’re going to the palces which were planned for day 3, Glanni waterfall and Hraunfossar. Arriving at Glanni after […]
Day-1: Snorrastaðir
It’s just a 3 hour 15 minutes flight from Hamburg to Keflavik. The flight was slightly late and the baggage reclaim took very long before the luggage was on the conveyor but finally we got it. The guy from the rental car company picked us up and we went to his office to pickup the Suzuki Grand […]
Cuxhaven harbour
Even in summer the weather in Iceland can be of any kind. However these days it is like there also here in Cuxhaven. Clouds, some small openings in the clouds, rain and so on. All pictures taken with Nikon D800 and Sigma 24-105f4 mounted on Gitzo DT4552TS with Arca Swiss D4. Also trying out a […]
Windmill Amanda in Grefenmoor
Some pictures of the windmill Amanda in Grefenmoor close to Stade. All these pictures were taken in 2006 using the Olympus E-500 with standard kit lenses. At that time I was mainly doing panorama pictures stitched together of several shots using a self-made nodal adapter. For the first time the smock mill was built in 1853. […]
Flight at Kugelbake
Short flight with the DJI at Cuxhaven Kugelbake. Last flight I did was in the morning hours so the sun was behind the Kugelbake. Today in the early evening hours the light was coming from the opposite side. Unfortunately still a lot of people around so I went a bit offside.
Polder Glies
Not a lot of action at Polder Glies but at least I was able to shoot my first cuckoo ever. The little Barn Swallow wasn’t scared and sat at the look out so I had to move backwards to get into shooting distance.
Helgoland
Daytrip to Helgoland. Both 150-600 lenses and the Nikkor 200-400 together with the D7200 and D4 were used for several shots. Mainly doing close-ups and in flight shots. More Helgoland pictures from this trip by clicking one of the pictures which takes you to the SmugMug gallery.
