As planned earlier we made it on Dec-28th to Wilhelmshaven for some lighthouse shots. Although the sunrise was not as I was hoping for, it was at least a good chance to explore the location further.

Cuxhaven – Water tower
Early morning shot of the Cuxhaven water tower. Again, another grey day… unfortunately. However, in the afternoon the sun came through for some time. Here are 2 shots, one from the morning and another one taken in the afternoon.
Cuxhaven – Early morning at the harbour
Needed to get out… Over the last weeks it was always grey skies and not ver good weather, so I had to take the chance…
Cuxhaven – Marina
Promising forecast for a nice sunrise. Before the sun was really up, it was already over and the sky turned to grey’ish colour. Not 100% satisfied with the shots but not too bad. The shots were made using the D850 and the Zeiss 21mm.
Obereversand – Stormfront Quintus
Cuxhaven – Kugelbake
Early morning at Kugelbake. Not a spectacular sunrise but also not that bad. Unfortunately there were no clouds above the monument. I used the D850 with the 24mm PC-E.
Obereversand in the mist
We had such a nice morning sky yesterday. Therefore, I tried to get some shots at Obereversand, hoping it would be a similar morning. That didn’t happen. Very foggy and the lighthouse was barely visible.
Planning lighthouse Arngast

Alternatively Dec-27th to 29th might work. The tide is better suited for the later dates. In Google Earth, I found 2 possible locations which also show proper […]
Cuxhaven – Hurricane Herwart
Sunday morning Cuxhaven was hit by hurricane Herwart. Some pictures taken at Kugelbake in the early morning hours.
Cuxhaven – Stormfront Xavier
Another stormfront at Cuxhaven’s coastline happened today around noon. The wind was coming directly into the bay. Last time, when stormfront Sebastian was here, it became obvious that the D2x is too slow for having some series shots. Therefore, I used the D800 with the Sigma 24-105 Art this time.
